WOW Barbecue is...wow?

If you haven't heard by now, I'm obsessed with WOW Barbecue food truck meat skewers (try the lamb asap). I even took my dad to the food truck last year, and he still talks about how it was one of the best things he ever ate. So, since my dad was visiting Boston, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to treat him by taking him to the new WOW Barbecue brick and mortar (AKA have my parents drive me there). WOW is definitely an appropriate exclamation to describe the food. They have the famous skewers with spicy seasoning powder which hit the spot. In addition, they had trays of spicy stir fry which rival some of the best places in Chinatown (according to me).

sauteed garlicky eggplant, i'm craving it  now
cauliflower, lamb, and chicken. can you spot the chicken heart skewer?
grilled oyster and scallop

Cafe Barada

On a snowy day in February 2013, Hanine and I made a promise that we would one day dine at Cafe Barada, a Lebanese restaurant in Cambridge. After a year, we finally fulfilled that promise. While it wasn't good as Mama Inaty's cooking as Hanine dutifully informed me, it came pretty damn close to the Lebanese eats I had in Dubai and it is the best I've had in Boston. Highly recommended.
Post renovation
After three years, she finally smiled! Just kidding, Hanine. You have a lovely smile.
Labna, my favorite

Deuxave

Apparently, its poor form to use camera flash in fancy restaurants. My hot date insisted that I not use the flash, so my crappy cell phone pics were worse than usual last night at Deuxave (by the way, has anyone figured out how to pronounce it yet?). He was paying for our meal, and its $$$$ on yelp, so I didn't protest. This was the second time I've ever eaten duck, and it was definitely the highlight of my meal. I thought it would be too much duck based off the pictures I saw, but bite after bite I wanted more. It came on a bed of lentils and a side of "french kisses," which were dates filled with foie gras.  I don't eat fancy French meals very often, but I think its must be difficult to do well, so I think Deuxave was quite satisfying (despite the salad that didn't live up to the salad at olive garden). If I were a yelper, I'd give it 3.5/5 stars.
beef tartare with a quail egg yolk and wagyu carpaccio
is that a salad? in a potato tuille? who knows, its too dark to see
star, duck with "french kisses"
ravioli "like i never tasted before"
chocolate silk ribbon, chocolate cake, passion fruit glace, candied macadamia nuts, coconut powder, dark rum gelee
i'm not sure how it all fit in my stomach
